Privacy Policy

We respect your privacy. This policy explains, in plain language, what data Panchangam handles and what it does not do.

Summary

• We do not collect personal data.
• We do not have user accounts or logins.
• We do not sell or share data with third parties for advertising.
• We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics SDKs.

What information is processed

Panchangam computes traditional Hindu calendar values (tithi, nakshatra, sunrise, muhurtam, kundali, etc.) for a date and place that you choose. To do this, the app processes:

• The city you select (or the latitude / longitude / timezone of a custom city you enter). This is used only to perform the astronomical calculation and to display the result back to you.
• The date you select.
• Optional birth details for Kundali / Porutham (date, time, place). These are used only to generate the chart shown on screen and are not stored on our servers.
• Your preferred language (English, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, or Hindi).

Where this information is stored

• In the Android app, your selected city and language are saved only on your device using Android’s local preferences storage. Nothing is uploaded to our servers.
• In the web app, the same selections are stored in your browser’s localStorage on your device. They never leave your browser unless you submit a calculation request, in which case the request is sent to our server, the result is computed, and neither the request nor the result is logged to a database.
• We do not maintain user profiles, accounts, or histories.

Network requests

The Android app does not require an internet connection for core panchangam calculations — everything is computed on-device. If you use the optional “custom city” lookup, the web app may query the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service to resolve a place name to coordinates. Those queries are sent directly to OpenStreetMap and are governed by their privacy policy (osmfoundation.org).

Permissions used by the Android app

• INTERNET — used only when you explicitly tap something that requires a network call (such as opening an external link). Core panchangam features work fully offline.
• The app does not request access to your location, contacts, microphone, camera, photos, calendar, or any other sensitive device data.

Children’s privacy

Panchangam is a general-audience reference app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children.

Data retention & deletion

Because we do not store personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete. To remove the local preferences saved by the app, you can clear the app’s data from your device’s Settings, or uninstall the app. In the web app, clearing your browser site data for this site removes everything.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how the app handles data, we will update this page and update the “Effective date” above. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
